    Ferdynand Ruszczyc was a famous painter and scholar. He graduated from St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Arts. He was a student of A. Kuindzi and Ivan Shishkin.

    In 1904, he was a professor at the Fine Art Schools in Warsaw and Cracow. After WWI, he was professor of painting at the University in Vilnius.

    Ruszczyc painted mostly landscapes, reflecting a very emotional and personal attitude toward nature. His works, like Nec Megritur or Ziemia (The Earth), are the most famous examples of his Polish modernism style.
