    On December 12, 2016 at the age of 94, Florent P. Baecke entered into the peace of eternal rest. His life began August 10, 1922 in San Antonio, Texas as the son of Belgian immigrants, Alfred and Louise Baecke (predeceased) and the brother of Marcel Baecke (predeceased). He grew up on a local area farm where he acquired his very strong work ethic. In 1952 he married his beloved wife of 60 years, Mildred V. Baecke (predeceased), and together they reared three children.

    He served in the Army Air Corp as a mechanic during World War II and was a member of the group known as the Carpet Baggers who flew numerous missions throughout Europe during the war. After the war he settled in San Antonio, Texas and worked at Ke...
