About Frank A Brown

  • Biography

    Frank Brown was born in Beverly, Massachusetts in 1876. He studied at the Copley Society and Boston School of Painting until 1920 when he entered the Julian Academy in Paris. He traveled and painted widely in Algeria, Spain, Morocco, Cuba, Canada and Labrador as well as Tunisia.

    He was a member of the Societe Coloniale des Artistes Francais, the Societe Internationale de Aquarellistes of Paris, the American Watercolor Society of New York. He was the only American to exhibit in the 1931 Colonial Exposition in Paris.

    By 1942, several of his works had been acquired by major museums.
