What makes him stand apart from the other Puerto Rican artists is that his art work is owned by celebrated and famous collectors like Ronald Reagan, explorer Jacques Cousteau, actor Danny Kaye , director John Houston. At several museums of Prague and Slovakia his works have found place in the form of permanent collections.

Frank Diaz Escalet was born in Ponce Puerto Rico in 1930. Died in in 2012 in Kennebunk Maine. He served in the US Air Force before settling in New York to Pursue an art career. Early on he specialized in leather work. He made leather clothing for the Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin and other rock groups.
He began using this medium and others to create stories in his art via impressions of bygone eras. He settled in Kennebunk Maine and opened his own studio "The House of Escalet." From 1990-1995 he was part of a five year traveling art exhibit "World Peace Tour" behind the Iron Curtain.
