    Born Weatherfield, NY, Oct. 16, 1839; died Alameda, CA, Dec. 2, 1928. Painter, spec portraits. Studied with Theodore Catlin in Monroe, WI, then, following the Civil War, spent a year at the National Academy of Design under Edwin White. Received further training from G.P.A. Healing in Chicago where he became known for his portraits of railroad official and politicians. Moved to San Francisco in 1875, back to Chicago in 1880 and lived at 9th & McGee in Kansas City in 1888-89. Returned to Chicago until moving once again to Northern California in 1915.
