    Frank Howard Marshall was born in Wolverhampton, England on Jan. 6, 1866. Marshall came from a family of poor coal miners. After graduating from the Berkeley Divinity School, he was briefly in the ministry before his marriage to a wealthy heiress in 1895. Not having to earn a living, allowed Marshall to pursue art studies in Paris at Académie Julian under Laurens and in Madrid and London. By 1910 he was based in NYC and further studied at the Chase School and ASL under such masters as Twatchtman, Chase, Bridgman, and DuMond. The Marshalls made 26 trips to Europe. When not traveling, he was based in Jamestown, NYC, and Worcester, MA. In 1915 he moved to California where he was head of the Red Cross in Palo Alto. He lived there briefl
