    Born in New York City, Frederick Wight was Assistant Director of the Institute of Contemporary Art in Boston and from 1953 was Director of Frederick S. Wight Galleries at the University of California in Los Angeles and was Chairman of the Art Department from 1963 to 1966.

    He wrote books about artists including Morris Graves, 1956; Hans Hofmann, 1957; Arthur Dove, 1958; and Richard Neutra, 1958.
