    Born in Mannheim, Germany, Fritz Klemm studied at the Badenische Landeskunstschule in Karlsruhe under Ernst Gustav Würtenberger, Professor August Groh et al. from 1922 to 1925.

    From 1948 onwards he directed a work class at the local Academy of Fine Arts. Five years later, he was appointed professor.

    Klemm is recorded particularly for his works executed in caparol technique, a thick paint application with caparol color, which has a granular consistency. In addition, he experimented lifelong with materials, which he often reworked in collaged compositions.

    His favorite motifs were forest, wall and window representations.
