    German animal and landscape painter. Born in 1914 in Berlin, died in 1993 in Bad Harzburg. Studied from 1928 at the Hochschule für Freie und Angewandte Kunst in Berlin under Henseler, Spiegel and Kutschmann. Worked on restoration projects in 1930 and 1936. Military service and imprisonment from 1939-47. The family moved to the Harz Mountains. From 1949, designed and painted fairground carriages, later worked on commissions for natural history museums focusing on hunting and game, and illustrated animal books. Awarded the Federal Cross of Merit in 1981. Continued painting fairground rides and hunting scenes into old age.
