    Georg Emil Libert (1820-1908) was a graduate of the class of J. L. Lund of the Royal Danish Academy. He traveled vast parts of Europe and was majorly influenced by the Munich landscape painters. At his lifetime he already exhibited in Charlottenborg and in the Danish Arts Association.

    The landscape paintings of Baltic islands made him become famous. One of the cliffs in Helligdomsklipperne is even named after him. Today, many of his works are in the possession of the National Gallery of Denmark and the Thorvaldsens Museum. (tm)
