    Georg Nerlich studied at the Breslau Academy of Art and Applied Arts from 1912 to 1917. After passing his state examination as an art teacher in 1917, he pursued further studies under the tutelage of Oskar Moll. His artist friends during his Breslau years included Oskar Schlemmer, Georg Muche, Alexander Kanoldt, Carlo Mense, and Otto Mueller. His artistic work during this period was influenced by Expressionism. In 1920, he joined the Silesian Artists' Association and the German Werkbund. Declared "degenerate" in 1937, Nerlich developed his impressionistic style with expressive colors. A large part of his pre-war work was lost in 1945 due to the war....
