Born in 1933 in Fumel, Lot-et-Garonne, Georges Bru spent his childhood and youth in Albi. He moved to Toulon in 1976, where he taught drawing at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts until 1993. Georges Bru is an authentic artist, a craftsman of the imaginary; he exalts in the precision of imprecision and creates half-man, half-woman characters with states of mind masked by a false neutrality. The painter's drawing, aestheticism, and, at times, monstrosity are seductive. Bru's work plunges us into a mysterious, sometimes disturbing universe where man mingles with animal.
