Georges Koskas - Artist Info

About Georges Koskas

  • Biography

A Franco-Tunisian artist who trained with André Lhote and Fernand Léger, Georges Koskas established himself as a pioneer of geometric abstraction in the 1950s, before returning, against the current, to figuration in a luminous, vibrant painting, free of all dogma. His presence in the Présences arabes exhibition at the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris (2024) underscores the importance of his career, which has remained on the bangs of the dominant classifications but is deeply rooted in a dual Mediterranean and Parisian culture.
