    A prominent member of the Brown County Art colony and President of the Brown County Art Guild, Georges La Chance painted the scenic views of rural Indiana. He was born in Utica, New York and settled in Nashville, Indiana. He studied at the St. Louis Art School and exhibited at the Hoosier Salon.

    Georges LaChance, 1888-1964, an Indiana painter of Impressionist landscapes, first moved to Brown County in that state in the early 1930s. He was a charter member of the Brown County Art Gallery Association. He exhibited at the Marshall Field Gallery, and Art Institute of Chicago, both in Chicago, Illinois; Sheldon Swope Art Gallery, Terre Haute, Indiana; and the Hoosier Salon, from 1926-19...
