    From an early age, Georges Guyot demonstrated artistic abilities, but his parents' modest conditions did not allow him to study art. He was apprenticed to a wood carver. Guyot excelled in copying works of the fifteenth, sixteenth, and seventeenth centuries, but very quickly he showed an attraction for nature. This attraction led him to the Jardin des Plantes where he could study wild animals and translate his observations into sculptures and paintings.

    Famous figure of Montmartre, Georges Guyot was the host of Bateau-Lavoir from the time of Cubism. In 1931, he joined the group of the Twelve, created by François Pompon and Jane Poupelet and which brought together sculptors such as Marcel Lemar, Paul Jouve, André Margat, Jean-Claude de...
