    Gilles Emmanuel Gingras (1932 -2002)

    Gilles E. Gingras was a painter, engraver, and sculptor who was born in Magog, Quebec. His mediums include oil, acrylic, watercolor, red chalk, pencil and liquid crystals. His style could be termed impressionist, but most of his work lacks the vibrant colors to fit comfortably into that category.

    In 1952, he earned his first post-secondary diploma from the Quebec Conservatory of Music. The following year, he began his formal training in fine arts at the Canadian Arts Academy.

    In 1958, he began exhibiting his work; the first exhibition was held in Longueuil (suburb of Montreal). While art was a major interest in his life he also worked for the Canadian governm...
