About Giuseppe Sacheri

  • Biography from Wannenes Art Auctions

Giuseppe Sacheri was an Italian painter born in Genoa who studied painting at the Accademia Albertina in Turin. He was awarded a prize in the competition for the academic year 1883-1884. Sacheri loved to travel and was struck by Flemish painting during his travels. He formed intimate friendships with the group of Painters of Sturla in Genoa and founded the Amici dell'Arte group in 1896. Sacheri's artwork style was landscape painting in the style of Jacob van Ruisdael and Meindert Hobbema. The work in the catalog describes a small village animated by farmhouses, bordered in the background by the massive mountains that delimit the horizon. The landscape is characterized by cold tones and the shadows of the frozen earth, the foreground is defined by pale blue reflections of the snow interrupted by the progress of the small figures furrowing the ground, under a powder-coloured sky crossed by timid flashes which are reflected on the mountains.
