About Gordon Fiscus

  • Biography

    Born in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 13, 1902. Fiscus studied at the Herron Art School under William Forsythe and at the Art Institute of Chicago. Arriving in San Francisco in the early 1930s, he continued at the CSFA and with Maynard Dixon. He had his first one-man show in San Francisco in 1934 and worked in the art department of the Call Bulletin. He later worked in commercial art in Indianapolis and taught for 18 years at the Herron Art School. From 1964-77 he lived on the Monterey Peninsula, and then in Nashville, Indiana.
