    Hanneke Benade is a South African artist born in Pretoria. She completed her BA Fine Arts degree in 1993 at the University of Pretoria.

    Benade's preferred medium is powder pastels, and her almost life-size drawings are incredibly realistic. Her subjects seem to be contemplating things, and she prefers that interpretation comes from the outside.

    Benade has curated exhibitions and lectured drawing at the University of Pretoria. She has exhibited extensively and has taken part in group shows locally and abroad.

    Benade has received several awards, including a Merit Award at the ABSA Atelier and a Brett Kebble Award in 2003. Her work is represented in a number of collections, including those of the Universities of Stelle...
