    Johann Andreas Alexander (called Hanns) Pellar was born in Vienna and discovered the local theater and stage scene early as a child, due to his two older sisters, who were both active in this field. In 1901 he began his artistic training at the ‘Graphischen Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Photographie und Reproduktionsverfahren (Graphic Training and Research Institute for Photography and reproduction process)‘. In addition Pellar briefly studied under the well-known artist Heinrich Lefler (1863-1919).

    In 1906 he finally moved to Munich, where he attended the class of Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) at the Academy of Arts. Here, the young artist explored a thriving city with festivals, exhibitions, theat...
