In 1901 he began his artistic training at the ‘Graphischen Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt für Photographie und Reproduktionsverfahren (Graphic Training and Research Institute for Photography and reproduction process)‘. In addition Pellar briefly studied under the well-known artist Heinrich Lefler (1863-1919). In 1906 he finally moved to Munich, where he attended the class of Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) at the Academy of Arts.
