    Hans Grundig initially trained as a decorative painter and then studied in Dresden at the School of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts, with Otto Gussmann among others. Looking back, he described his artistic concern, which he pursued together with some friends: "It is our general enemy to break up the world into sections that are also decals of the real, to strip them of their deeper contexts. We do not want one To be a narcotic for the outsiders of life, but we don't want to do that either, cover abysses with cotton wool and silk veils, paint guardian angels to them that were developed from conscious social lies of certain circles.
