    Born in Kassel, Germany on March 8, 1872, Hans Meyer was such an outstanding artist that his native city acclaimed him by having Kassel added to his name. After graduating from the University of Leipzig, he studied at the Munich Academy of Art and cofounded the Int'l Art Society.

    In 1921 he immigrated to the U.S. and for ten years had a studio in New York City and was guest artist at Amherst State College. He came to Pasadena, California in 1935 for an exhibition and opted to remain. One year later he moved to Nevada and lived in Reno, Carson City, and Genoa. He died in the latter on Aug. 30, 1952.

    His work includes still lifes, portraits, landscapes, and Indian genre.
