    Harmen Meurs, also known as Hermanus Meurs, was a Dutch painter who studied at the State School of Arts and Crafts and the Imperial Academy in Amsterdam from 1909 to 1911. He was a member of the artists' association "De Onafhankelijen" (The Independents) from 1918 to 1932, where he also served as chairman. Meurs' artistic journey took him from Post-Impressionism to Surrealism and eventually to realistic painting in the style of New Objectivity. His oeuvre includes portraits, genre scenes, and still lifes....
