    Henry Mills Walcott (1870-1944) was a realist painter of figures and landscapes influenced by Impressionism, but retaining a somewhat sharper contour of form more reminiscent of Manet than Renoir and Monet.

    Walcott was interested in what might be termed a story-telling, illustrative realismthe semi-photographic look of the figure, primarily young women and girls, more than a painterly vision.
    He was credited with being skillful with the depiction of multiple figures, both in drawing and arrangement. He was a member of the Society of American Artists, and became an Associate of the National Academy of Design in 1903.
