Heinrich Lietz, actually Heinrich Wilhelm Max Lietz, was born in 1909 in Stralsund. 1928 Heinrich studied philosophy in Greifswald and Berlin. In Berlin he participated in of evening classes in painting and graphics at the School of Applied Arts in Berlin-Charlottenburg where he was the pupil of Max. Kaus. Later Lietz studied at the Berlin Academy and the Art Academy Berlin-Schöneberg at Willy Jaeckel, Heinrich Reifferscheidt, Bernhard Hasler and Philipp Franck. In 1932 state examination for teachers, then clerkship and 2nd state, until 1939 taught art in Ilsenburg, Ettersburg, Berlin, Potsdam and Eichwalde.
