    Henry Edridge ARA (Paddington, London, 1768 – London, 23 April 1821) was a prominent English watercolourist and miniaturist, principally known for his portraits of public figures including Lord Nelson, William Pitt the Younger, and John Wesley. He apprenticed at age fifteen to William Pether, a mezzotinter and landscapist, and later studied at the Royal Academy Schools, where he enrolled in 1784.

    Edridge’s early portraits were executed on ivory, later transitioning to paper using black lead and India ink, often with ornate backgrounds. He eventually developed a refined watercolour technique that combined the richness of oil painting with the spontaneity of drawing.
