    Herbert Behrens-Hangeler was born in Germany in 1898. Herbert studied painting with Lovis Corinth and Hans Baluschek. From 1921 to 1933, he belonged to the "November Group" in Berlin. In the first half of the 20th century, Herbert Behrens-Hangeler came into his abstract pointillist style between the wheels of the official German art policy. After 1933, Herbert was considered an ostracized artist, and in 1940, occupied by the Nazis, with a work ban. Eleven years later, his art in the GDR was seen as formalistic. Herbert Behrens-Hangeler died in 1981, in Germany.
