    Herbert Siebner RCA, CGP,BCSA (1925 - 2003)

    Herbert Siebner was a painter, muralist, print maker and sculptor born in Stettin, Germany. He emigrated to Victoria, Canada in 1954, and lived and worked there for the rest of his life. His mediums were oil, watercolor, casein, ink, acrylic, gouache, crayon, woodcut, lithography, graffito-encaustic, monoprints, silkscreen, and cement for sculpture. His style is expressionist, some of it described as neo-primitive. His subjects include landscapes, female figures, mythology and symbolism. He was also influenced by Dada.

    He studied at the Atelier Max Richter in Stettin (1943); and under Max Kraus and Carl Hofer at the Berlin Academy (1946-1949). He taught ...
