He participated in numerous exhibitions in Germany and internationally, including the Venice Biennale in 1938. Germ declined a professorship at the Dresden Academy in 1943 and was included in the "Gottbegnadetenliste" in 1944. Germ was a board member of the Freie Künstlervereinigung Baden and member of the Reichsverband bildender Künstler Deutschlands.
