About Hondo

  • Biography

Hondo was one of the first French artists to transition his work from the street to canvas, focusing on the hip-hop and artistic culture of the 1980s. His artwork from the early 2000s featured the "Zulu Nation," a movement introduced to France in the early 1980s by Afrika Bambaataa. The Zulu Nation aimed to provide a pacifist alternative to the violent gangs in New York's inner cities, uniting rap, graffiti, and hip-hop under a single banner. Hondo's universe reflected this cultural movement, setting up shop in the suburbs of Paris to promote unity in the artistic community.
