    Hubertus van Hove (1814-1864) Hubertus van Hove was a Dutch painter and graphic artist of the 19th century and belonged to a famous family of painters. Van Hove was at first a pupil of his farther, Bartholomeus-Johannes van Hove (1790-1880), based in The Hague and well known as a famous figure in art.

    The young van Hove worked at the beginning in his hometown as well, around 1854 he went to Antwerp where he settled down. The oeuvre of the artist is represented by landscapes, townscapes, kitchen interiors, animal studies and scenic painting. Van Hove focused over the years on figured interior painting and was guided concerning subject and style by the tradition of the great Dutch paintings of 17th century, the time is regarded as...
