    Imre Bak was a Hungarian artist born in 1939. His early work was influenced by lyrical abstraction and constructivism. He gradually moved towards a purely geometric segmentation of the canvas, resulting in hard-edge painting.

    Bak's interest in semiotics and conceptualism led him to experiment with the relationship between form, color, and text in shaping meaning. He was influenced by Kazimierz Malewicz's works and attempted to break the dichotomy of abstraction and figuration.
