Inge Schiöler's paintings leave no one indifferent. With a phenomenal feeling for color effect and design, he has been loved by the art audience for more than half a century. Few have any idea of the mental illness that afflicted the artist at the age of twenty-five, and which came to shape his entire artistry.

Already at an early age, Schiöler began to paint, and was first accepted at the Handicraft Association's school, and at the age of 18 at Valands in Gothenburg, where he together with i.a. Ragnar Sandberg and Ivan Ivarson studied under Tor Bjurström.
