About Ion Nicodim

  • Biography

Ion Nicodemus is an artist who conceived the cycle of "Hearts" before reaching the age of 50. He started with painting and progressed to combining simple materials, making collages, and designing compositions. His heart-themed artwork features relief assemblies made of various materials, including wood, tar, sackcloth, spice, nails, clay, tin, and gold polishing. The heart is a symbol of living and vulnerability, reminding us of our ephemerality while connecting us with the universal human experience. Nicodemus's adoption of the heart emblem is not sentimental or cliché but emphasizes the subjectivity of the human species. The title of his work is inspired by a poem written by Emperor Adrian in which he addresses the soul before his death
