    Ivar Kamke lived from 1882 to 1936. Kamke belonged to the generation of Swedish artists who between the 1885 and 1909 were opponents to revolutionary modernists. Like many of his generation, he never took himself to the new ideas and continued with a painting depicting a lifetime. Paintings by Kamke occur sporadically at auction and the reason is that he had his main income from portättmåleriet. He was for a long time the Swedish bourgeoisie and aristocracy, a great portrait painter. Nude painting came to be very popular and in demand. Kamke was educated at the Academy in Stockholm with Oscar Björck and Axel Hill as a teacher. In the years, 1906-1912, he spent time abroad for studies. He worked for three years...
