Biography
Ivo Saliger (1894-1987) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist. Born in Königsberg/Wagstadt, he lived in Vienna from 1908. He studied at the Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt under Ludwig Michalek and later at the Vienna Academy under Rudolf Jettmar and Ferdinand Schmutzer. Between 1917 and 1918, he was assistant to Michalek and was appointed professor in 1920. In 1930, he further trained with Amédée Ozenfant and Fernand Léger at the Académie Moderne in Paris. He participated in the Great German Art Exhibitions in Munich from 1937 to 1944 and received the Master Prize of the Vienna Academy of Graphic Arts.
