    Jack Harold Markell (1919 -1979)

    Jack Harold Markell was a painter who was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He moved to North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada in 1961 where lived and worked for the rest of his life and died.

    His mediums were oil, tempera, pastel and mixed mediums. His subjects were portraits, figures, still life, and landscape. His primary style was Impressionism. The influence of Jon Corbino (see below) is evident in much of his figurative work.

    He studied at the Western Art Academy (Winnipeg) under Alexander Musgrove (see AskART) and at the Art Students League in New York (1940's) under Jon Corbino (see AskART). His travels include Europe in the earl...
