    Jack Merriott was educated at Greenwich Central School. He also studied at Croydon School of Art and at St. Martins School of Art. Merriott lectured in the Royal Army Education Corps from 1945-6 and was president of the Wapping Group of artists from 1947-60.

    Jack Merriott lived at Shirley in Surrey, Storrington, Sussex and later at Polperro, Cornwall. He illustrated some of the `Beautiful Britain` series of books by Blackies. Meriott lectured widely on watercolor and produced the `Pitman Guide to Watercolour` and wrote `Discovering Watercolour`.
