    Jacques Matthias Schenker was born in 1854 in Luzern. He became a Swiss landscape painter who studied from 1870-76 at the Düsseldorf Akad and later at the Weimar Art School, where he attended a master class Th. Hagen. From 1876-1907 Schenker worked in Dresden, where in 1879 founded a painting school for ladies. From 1907 he worked in Vitznau. He painted with Vprliebe views from Normandy; images in Dresden (low tide at Dieppe; Spring on the channel); St. Gallen (beach on the coast of Normandy); and in Weimar (Am Bach).
