  • Biography

    Jafar Rouhbakhsh first studied art at the Fine Art College in Tehran. In 1964 he had his first solo exhibition, followed by presentations of his works in the National Museum in Tehran in the 1970s.

    His international breakthrough came in 1974 at an exhibition in the Grand Palais in Paris, to which the Maeght Foundation had invited him. In Paris the artist visited the studios of Marc Chagall, Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies, at the same time he deepened his knowledge in the field of lithography.

    Later he was appointed professor at the University of Tehran. In Rouhbakhsh's work there are traditional Iranian motifs paired with abstract Western art....
