Born in Bruges, Belgium and continuing to live there, Jan De Vliegher is a painter of structures, interiors, figures, nature, still lives and images of ceramic plates, reflecting different cultures. Since 2003 he has been teaching at the Stedelijke Academie of Bruges. He graduated from the Sint-Lucas Higher Institute for Visual Arts of Ghent (1982-1986) and obtained his ?master's degree in painting (magna cum laude).

Jan's preference is given to the figurative painting because it allows him to express his love for colouring and poetry of painting, in a more or less free style.
