About Jan Peeter Verdussen

  • Biography

Jan Peter Verdussen was a painter who was a pupil and collaborator of his father Jacob. He moved to Marseille at a young age and became a member of the local Academy. He was influenced by French decorative pleasure and was able to create beautiful landscaped backdrops for battle, hunting, and gallant scenes. His works show similarities with Peter Van Bloemen and Christian Reder, although he never crossed paths with them. In the 1940s, he worked for the Savoy in Italy, serving Amedeo III. Later, he married in England and returned to France for good in 1759.
