Janusz Antoni Pastwa was born on January 26, 1944, in Brzoza near Kozienice, Poland. He attended the Art High School in Kielce and later studied at the Faculty of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under the guidance of professors Marian Wnuk and Stanislaw Slonina. Pastwa obtained his diploma in 1970 and went on to become an assistant to Prof. Slonina from 1974 to 1981. He eventually became an assistant professor in 1980 and received the title of associate professor in 1987, later becoming a professor of fine arts in 1992.
