Jaroslaw Modzelewski was born in 1955 in Poland. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and in 1980 obtained a diploma in painting in the studio of professor Stefan Gierowski. He was a co-founder of Gruppa, with which he exhibited in 1983-92. It was also at this time that the artist's paintings reflect the events that lived in Poland. He is considered one of the main characters of "80s Expression".
