About Jasper Green

    Born in Columbia, Pennsylvania, Jasper Green was an engraver, illustrator, and wood carver who worked for Harper's Weekly during the Civil War and depicted battle scenes. He was the father of illustrator Elizabeth Shippen Green.

    He lived and died at the Red Rose Inn--the artist residence of his daughter and her friends Violet Oakley and Jessie Wilcox Smith.
