    Jean-Baptiste Germain was a French sculptor who presented the bronze model of Joan of Arc at the 1879 Salon. He was a pupil of Dumont and Gumery. Germain's sculpture of Joan of Arc was considered a symbol of patriotism and a representation of a "secular saint". The sculpture obtained a major place in the end of the 19th century, a few years before Joan of Arc was canonized in 1920....
