Jean Baptiste Marie Pierre was a French painter, draughtsman, and engraver born in Paris. He was the first painter to the Duc d'Orléans and the first painter to the King. Marie-Pierre excelled in different painting genres and received numerous commissions from various sources. He exerted a decisive influence on the art and artists of his time under the supervision of key figures in the Bâtiments du roi.
