    Jean Vervisch was born in Etterbeek Belgium in 1896. He was a student at l'Académie de Saint-Josse-ten-Noode.

    Vervisch began exhibiting in 1925. He showed with Cercle Artistique de Schaerbeek. From 1927 to 1933, he exhibited in Brussels with the Cercle Artistique et Littéraire. In 1928, he exhibited at Galerie Thémis, and charitable exhibition, with James Ensor, and many other astists. In the late 1920's and 1930's, he exhibited at the Palais des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited often at Galerie l'Atelier with Léon Navez, Marcel Stobbaerts, and Albert Crommelynck.

    In 1931 he went to Paris and associated with the group Le Chaînon.
