    Jens Peter Møller was born in 1783. From 1799-1803, the artist absolved an apprenticeship as house painter in Schleswig. From 1803-09, he continued studying at the Art Academy in Copenhagen.

    His teachers were Nicolai Abildgaard and Christian August Lorentzen, among others. With the help of a scholarship, he was also able to complete training as a conservator and restorer in Brussels and Paris.

    Study trips led Møller through Switzerland, to Bornholm, and Norway. Over time, he worked at various institutions as curator, e.g. in 1834 as curator of Count Moltke’s art collection. At the same time Møller was also active as a teacher at the Søkadet-Akademiet. Later, he became a professor at the Art Acad...
